Everyone Needs Playtime

In our hectic, modern lives, many of us focus so heavily on work and family commitments that we never seem to have time for pure fun. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, we stopped playing.

When we carve out some leisure time, we’re more likely to zone out in front of the TV or computer than engage in fun, rejuvenating play like we did as children. But play is not just essential for kids; it can be an important source of relaxation and stimulation for adults as well.

There doesn’t need to be any point to the activity beyond having fun and enjoying yourself. By giving yourself permission to play with the joyful abandon of childhood, you can reap oodles of health benefits throughout life.

Zwergnase Junior doll by Nicole Marschollek-Menzer ~

I don't think Zwergnase dolls are particularly pretty, however, there is something about the expression on their faces that really appeals to me. I ordered her yesterday and just adore her curly red locks.

CURRENT WISHLIST

Zwergnase Junior doll by Nicole Marschollek-Menzer ~

HEDDA

I already have my lovely Violet, a brunette with blue eyes, so a brown eyed redhead and green eyed blonde will do nicely to form a trio.

I also have another in mind, but she is pre-loved and a doll I want to repaint (if I can get her for the right price). Which also means I probably won't bring home Hedda. If I do, I shall need another Zwergnase doll to create that magic uneven number.

Rosemarie Muller "Wichtel Fiona" for Schildkrot-Puppen ~

FIONA

I love these happy little dolls and have two already. Fiona has been a favourite for a long time and will make up my perfect trio, but somehow she always got pushed aside by another doll.

Hopefully I don't fall in love with any other dolls this year, I simply don't have any room for more dolls unless more of the ones I have move out. This is a very difficult task for me . . . I've tried reducing my collection and have failed every time.

What do you have planned for your dolls this year?

My Little Helper

Sometimes when you loose a pet it takes forever to overcome the loss, and in the past it has been that way for me. However, when we lost Thomas so suddenly, I found it extremely difficult to come to terms with the emptiness he left behind. The house was so quiet I couldn't stand it and so after finding our breeder had none for sale, I searched the internet for another little apricot poodle and this is who I found.

THOMAS TWO

He was the right colour, but with a white chest and only a few weeks old. We went to meet him and fell in love immediately, though we had to wait a couple of weeks until he was old enough to bring him home. He was definitely worth waiting for.

6TH OCTOBER

We decided to call him Thomas too, because I knew if we called him something else, I would still find myself calling out "Thomas" when I wanted him to come, as my previous boy was still fresh in my mind.

14 OCTOBER

Thomas has been at my side during my recuperation and helped me immensely. To be completely honest, I'm not sure if I would have done as well without him.

5TH NOVEMBER

He has grown considerably since he arrived and has almost attained the same age as our first Thomas was when we got him, he'll be 5 months on 10th January. He has a gorgeous temperament, so affectionate and friendly to everyone he meets, dogs and people alike. He's a little bit bossy, but I don't mind that, it's to be expected of poodles.

CHRISTMAS DAY

A few days after his first grooming session he looked beautiful and so much like Thomas the first I could hardly believe my eyes. Whatever you may think, I feel in my heart this little boy was meant to come and live here with us.

Happy New Year!

Well after a long time away, an operation and recuperation, I've finally been inspired to return to dolls. However, before I share my inspiration I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families.

Finally Gotz have brought me a red-haired doll that's not a Hannah. This lovely Celtic doll from the Scottish highlands has pale green eyes, natural cheek contours and full lips. She is an original sculpt by Elisabeth Lindner for Gotz.

She is 50cm (19.5") tall with a full vinyl multi-jointed body. Edda wears a black & red plaid skirt, white top, a belted denim short jacket, socks, black sturdy boots laced with red ribbon, head scarf and comes with her own black Scottie dog, lead & collar.

I've ordered her from My Doll Best Friend, so it will be a little while before I can hold her. However, I do have a little one to keep me busy for now. I pre-ordered her back in August and she arrived sometime in October, but I only opened her today. She is a Gotz Little Kidz Rainbow . . . I'll share more about her later on my other blog.
