Little Boys and Puppy Dog Tales

Here are my little boys, they call themselves the Thunderbird Gang, heaven only knows why.

On the left we have Raven (IpleHouse BID Serca ~ Special Real Skin).

Raven is a very keen sportsman and footballer.

When he is older, he hopes to play football professionally and win a huge trophy.

With all his enthusiastic ambition, I have no doubt he'll succeed.

In the middle is Finch (Doll-Zone Choco ~ White Skin).

Finch is a shy boy, who adores animals and hopes to become a veterinarian.
He loves dogs in particular and somehow manages to find all the strays.
He's constantly telling me "this one just followed me home", expecting me to believe him.
We find homes for most of them, but when Finch brought Gilbert home we allowed him to stay.

And on the right, riding Gina's Vesper, is Wren (IpleHouse BID Peekaboo ~ Light Brown Skin).
Wren is a little on the quiet side and a bit of a nerd, who is studying hard to become an excellent mathematician.
Wren also has a natural curiosity that sometimes gets him into trouble.
His goal in life is to become a nuclear scientist.

Finch is my favourite of the three, possibly because he has a kind heart and a soft spot for animals.

Here he is speaking with Emmaline, (DollsBeWithYou Pomegranate ~ Normal Skin) who also loves animals.

She is the only girl who is allowed to pat Gilbert. Finch is quite possessive with his little dog, after all Gilbert is his best friend in all the world and is his constant companion.

All four are fully jointed Asian Ball Jointed Dolls, which are 26cm (10.24 inches) tall.

Raven and Finch arrived mid 2014, then Wren arrived two years later.

Witches Three

As far as the original hideous image of witches that we started this tale with . . . the cackling, old, ugly, hooked-nose ladies stirring their cauldron; it's probable that they never really existed except in the vivid imaginations of storytellers. Witches were often spoken of as being old and ugly because evil was considered to be ugly . . . therefore it made the story much more interesting to portray witches this way. The steaming cauldron almost always associated with witches, is more likely to have originated from the large pot in which potions were made by the early healers to cure the ailing.

Three young witches sat by a tree

and wished with all their might,

that ghouls and ghosts would not appear

on Hallows Eve, or any other night.

With hands entwined they closed their eyes,

softly chanting incantations

which called upon the fairies, to help rid

the world of evil infestations.

Two pumpkin cauldrons spattered 'n' popped,

they fizzed with utter delight,

 good omens departed swiftly on the wind,

crushing every wicked thing in sight.

When dawn broke in the early morn,

the witches smiled with glee,

with the fairies help they'd conquered all

and fulfilled their destiny.

Happy Halloween!

Photoshoot: One, Two, Three

I have just finished sewing some simple dresses for three of my KID's and had a quick photoshoot today in keeping with the current season of Halloween . . . so stand by for some more "double, double toil and trouble" from siblings Irene, Lonnie and their older cousin Paige.

I ended up keeping the red wig for Lonnie, and just restyled it so it didn't cover so much of her face. I may replace it at a later date if I find a red one that's short and curly.

Kids Wigs

Had a little play with my KID's wigs yesterday . . . I decided to keep Irene's wig, but restyled it to a hopefully younger look. There are some fly-away hairs that need tidying up, but I'll get to that after I have dressed her.

I turfed Lonnie's curls for a short bob, though I am not enamoured with it and am now thinking . . . maybe I should change her eyes, or at least re-position them?

I gave Paige some plaits in the hope they would also make her look younger, but as I said to Rachael recently, there's something about this doll that doesn't quite work and I just don't know what it is. I suspect, aside from the very rosy cheeks, she has an old face for a KID . . . what do you think?

My Kids

I'm not sure what I am going to do with my Iplehouse KID Paige (Normal Skin), she's had a difficult time trying to find herself and I'm not sure why. She's not had much attention since I got her and she desperately needs shoes, I'm not even sure if I like her in this wig.

Lonnie (Peach Gold Skin) has changed her styling a few times and this is her latest phase. She told me she wanted curly hair, but it kind of swamps her face.

Irene (Special Real Skin) was my first KID. She grew up far quicker than I expected and was into more mature fashion long before I realised I hadn't given her character much thought. :)

I love her face, but she needs a new body as her resin colour has begun to change where she caught some sun on her shoulder. Stupidly, I left her in the wrong place in the doll room.

I shouldn't think it will be long before I give all three a complete make over, especially now I have them in my studio where I can see them. I need to really think about using all three in the same story though, maybe as cousins or room mates  . . . any suggestions?

I'm Still Here!

My heavens I don't know where the time is going this year, it seems to be just flying by. I haven't purchased any dolls for so long and haven't got a lot of news to share either. I finally managed to sell my Volks body and head which means I no longer have any huge resin dolls.

Also decided to sell my Iplehouse BID Ah-ra as I just haven't been able to motivate myself to do her faceup and she's remained in her box for over 12 months . . . full details on DoA with more photos if anyone is interested.

I have been knitting, but not doll clothes and I have spent a small fortune on new clothes . . . a little reward for loosing 10k. 😊

The Thunderbird Gang

The boys have been up to their antics again, this time they pinched Gina's scooter! Who would have thought these boys could be so naughty, they all look so innocent. :)

Raven (IpleHouse BID Serca Sculpt, Special Real Skin, KID Peach Face-up B), Finch (DollZone BB Choco, White Skin, Default Face-up) and Wren (IpleHouse BID Peekaboo, Light Brown Skin, Default Face-up C).

The New Boy on the Block

This is my new Wren (Iplehouse BID Peekaboo in light brown skin), I think he suits the image of the Thunderbird gang, much better than Naias ever did. He arrived yesterday, 14th June.

Even with his long hair (not sure about this wig, I may cut it) he still looks more boyish to me. He came with a lovely set of green eyes, so no need to change them. I was unsure what the face up would look like on this colour resin, but it's really nice and natural. I also love the way the blush emphasises his little chubby cheeks.

Two Red Haired Girls

My IH Naias has undergone a sex change and has become Eve (I think she looks much better as a girl) and Pippin (FL LF Pipi) has a new wig.

They are wearing new outfits made from the recently received fabrics. Both quickly made from modified patterns. I really should have paid more attention to the fabric and cut the pant sections separately instead of folding the fabric face to face and cutting the two sides of the pants together.

P.S. The curly wig is a Monique Gold and the other a Luts. The green shoes are from CoolCat and the boots from Luts.

A Little Boy at Last

Well by now most of you have probably heard that IpleHouse are discontinuing a number of their sculpts. Amongst them is BID Peekaboo, a little cutie with a slightly grumpy look about him. As I haven't been happy having Naias as a boy (mainly because he looks quite feminine), I decided to bring Peekaboo home with this face up and in light brown skin.

So this little one will replace Wren and join Finch and Raven in the Thunderbird Gang. (I guess this is what most people refer to re-shelling?) Not sure what wig I will be putting on him yet, but I'll have a couple of months while I'm waiting to decide that.

The former Wren (Naias) will become Eve, one of my Tom Boys, but will need a little sanding down below and something decent to wear.

Boys

I took a few photos of Legolas (Doll Family-A Julian) with Theron.

They are my only male dolls, apart from the three Thunderbird boys.

Legolas is my Chief Guardian of the Elvin Forest.

Eventually I intend to make him suitable Elvin costumes to wear. However, these clothes will have to do in the interim.
