Intermission

As many of you are already aware, I have an obsession with dolls that have a cute toothy smile. It has never mattered whether the smile included just one tiny tooth peeping through or several and my Wichtels smile the best of all my dolls.

For the longest time, I've had a desire to own a "Samy" Wichtel, who has the cutest smile of all the Wichtels, you could say she was my grail doll. Over the years I have searched different doll shops and she has constantly evaded me. I cannot truthfully say this was because she was a mold that was not made available to Schildkrot, but I have a suspicion this is probably so.

This meant if I was to have a "Samy" Wichtel, I would probably have to order one from Rosemarie Muller directly . . . which inevitably would cost a lot more then the ones from Schildkrot. 

Then last week, in the midst of selling two more of my unwanted dolls, I spotted Merle on eBay UK. Needless to say, and regardless of price, she hopped straight into my cart and was on her way to me in no time!

She came in a box different to the Schildkrot boxes and when I examined her, I found she had been signed by Rosemarie and had a lovely soft Kanekalon wig which is tied up in a pony tail, instead of the regular human hair wigs.

Merle's garments also had a different tag . . . a gold embroidered Muller Wichtel, where my other Wichtels bear the Schildkrot turtle logo.

Now you may think I am breaking my own rules here, knowing I like to have uneven numbers of dolls, but I look at it this way, I have FIVE Schildkrot Wichtels and ONE very precious Rosemarie Muller Wichtel.

I shall take a couple of days enjoying them all, then it's back to work on my project dolls. Keep safe, happy and enjoy your dolls.

Once there Was Two, then Three, now there's Five

We are not going to have anymore arrive, five mischievous little Wichtels is enough for anyone to handle.

Today, apart from unboxing Frieda and Renata, I have been busy changing eyes in a some of my dolls, that of course led to wig changes. The result of doing that has made me realise I don't need so many wigs, so I'm going to sell them.

Of course I'll have to sort them all out into sizes and make sure everything is labeled correctly.  I have no idea how many I have that are in the wrong packaging/boxes or how they managed to get so mixed up and I know just looking at this big box, it's going to take me a while. 🙄

So that's my all for this year (says she who cannot be believed when she says "no more"). Well that's all the dolls actually planned for in the immediate future. What about you? Do you have any plans for which dolls you will be bringing home in 2024?

Taking a Stand

After much thought about my collection, I've decided to shed a most of my Spanish made dolls. To begin with I plan on moving almost all of my Paola Reina dolls, except for the articulated ones. As well as my two Vidal Rogas, two Vestida de Azul and two D'nenes.

This will allow me not to feel guilty about pre-ordering this little one.

Her name is Paula (Wichtel Bubi face RM 7.0), but I really do not like that name as it reminds me of someone I am not at all fond of. I haven't decided what I will call her and will most probably wait until she arrives (later this month or early next month) to see what she has to say about her name.

Isn't she just the cutest little doll? As most of you already know, I am always drawn to dolls that show their tiny teeth. Of course she will bring my Wichtels back to an even number so I shall be looking to add another down the track, BUT NOT BEFORE I HAVE SOME ADOPTED TO LOVING HOMES.

A Friendship Blossoms

Well my little Lea Muller (who I have renamed Heidi) arrived yesterday, so I took a couple of snaps of her with Gretel (Rosi). They seem to be getting along like a house on fire!

Gretel: Hello, I haven't seen you around here before, are you new to the neighbourhood?

Heidi: I've only just arrived from overseas, but this looks like a very nice town.

I brought my block trolley with me. Do you like playing with blocks?

Gretel: Oh yes, I love playing with them. You can build things and that's so much fun.

Lea: I think we are going to become great friends.

Gretel: Me too! Do you want to come to my place for lunch?

Lea: Yeah, that will be lovely. Do you have fruit? I love fruit!

Gretel: Yes, and yummy cream cakes too!

So off they went to feed their chubby little faces, muttering to each other all the way. :)

Been Busy Off Line

But I'm back on again now! I just found that Schildkrot have finally been able to attain the Krumel face mould from Rosemarie Muller's own collection, and have produced two extremely happy little dolls . . . Felix and Lea Muller.

I have wanted to get my little pinkies on this face mould forever, but just could not justify a purchase from the artist herself. So you can imagine the joy I felt when I saw these two happy little souls up for sale. You may even have thought from my love of redheaded dolls, I would purchase Felix first, but Lea looked so pretty in the little outfit she was wearing, my heart melted.

It will be nice to have a blue eyed blond in my collection and as she wears a wig, I can always change it whenever I like. She isn't a big doll (30cm tall), nor is she ball jointed, but I know she will pose well regardless, as her five joints swivel, which allows the arms, legs and head to move in many different directions.

The wait for this doll shouldn't be too long, just long enough to fly from UK to Australia!

Dolls That Make You Smile

I really love my little Gretel, she is such a happy doll and I love the way her head tilts and her limbs move. She's certainly able to express herself beautifully even though she is only articulated 5 ways.

Oh my! This teddy bear is really heavy.

It appears there are two different editions of Wichtels that sell for two different prices. It took me a little while to work out why that was, but work it out I did! One is made by the artist herself, the other made by Schildkrot.

Rosemarie Muller - Wichtel Dolls

This sweet doll, Fayette, is made by artist Rosemarie Muller in Germany. She's a little white skinned hazel eyed blonde girl doll. Fayette's hair is a long blonde wig with a fringe and styled in two long bunches with ribbons.

She wears a really gorgeous pinafore dress and striped top and matching leggings with white ankle socks and red leather shoes. Her clothing is made by Rosemarie Muller and each design is original.

The dolls are named "Wichtel" dolls which translates to "elves" - balm for the soul is how they are often referred. Their bodies are completely hard phthalate free vinyl. Girl and boy dolls have different abdomens like little girls and little boys. The hair is a hand knotted mohair and kanekalon wig. The eyes are hand-blown glass eyes from Lauscha (supposedly the very best eyes) and the face is lovingly painted by hand.

This is my favourite sculpt/mould from Rosemarie Muller, I hope it comes up for re-release one day! The face is so alive and happy and I think it would be an absolute joy to have one of these very child like dolls smiling at me every day.

I know there are people who don't like open mouth dolls, but this one looks so natural and is very tastefully sculpted and painted, one would be a fool not to see the pleasure this face would bring to an owner. The wig is also very natural and the colour . . . divine.

There is nothing so gorgeous as a little red haired girl!

These sweet dolls are manufactured by Schildkrot in Rauenstein (Thür), Germany. The entire face and body moulds are also sculpted by German doll artist Rosemarie Muller and Schildkrot has the pleasure of manufacturing to order, 4 of the Muller-Wichtel moulds, of which there are 24 in total. They are classified by Schildkrot as collectible artist dolls.

Their hair and eyes are the same quality as the dolls made by Rosemarie herself.

The fourth one on the left is the one I have. :) Her given name was Rosi, she has red hair, blue eyes and wears a Bavarian dirndl with real red leather shoes.

Another Arrives

This is a Rosemarie Muller Wichtel Rosi who I have renamed Gretel. She is 5 way jointed, but has incredible movement. She is just the cutest little doll and she is hoping I can soon bring home a twin brother for her. :)
