Creating Seraphine (Part 3)

The bodies arrived on Thursday as expected, the floating heads are finally on their chosen bodies and the borrowed bodies are also back at last with their respective owners.

Looking at Seraphine sitting on the table in her new completely naked body, inspired me to begin making her costume and yesterday I managed to finish both the floor length underskirt and knee length top-skirt. I am happy with the way the two layers look together, they are both full enough and the black fabric in the under-skirt has helped create that beautiful shade of crimson that I was looking for . . . it's a perfect match to the tips of her hair and sparkly pupil-less eyes.

I love sewing this style of garment, the separate pieces are interchangeable and by combining them in different ways, it makes several outfits a possibility. The elastic waistband in the underskirt and top-skirt is also advantageous, as they can be worn by various dolls, some larger than the doll I actually made them for.

Hopefully, I will begin sewing her bodice tomorrow, however, I am yet to decide exactly which way I am heading with the design. It's a bit of a toss up whether to do sleeves and if I do what length should they be. Also wondering whether to add a peplum to the top.

I'll sleep on it and see what tomorrow brings forth. :)

Creating Seraphine (Part 2)

Two more parcels arrived today, the fabric which you have seen in a previous post and this wonderful wig!

It matches her eyes perfectly and I love how they have mixed and blended the colours. The top being a mix of gold and cherry with it graduating to just this beautiful rich cherry red. I couldn't have wished for a more delightful wig for my Fire Sprite!

Now the fabric ended up being completely different colour to what was shown on the screen and thank heavens for that!! It's much more blood red than tomato and when layered with the black fabric it will make a gorgeous gown.

I do wish her body would arrive though, so I could give this one back to Coco!!

Creating Seraphine (Part 1)

I thought my next hybrid should be a fire spirit, an agent of purification. She will be courageous, creative, enthusiastic and passionate. However, as a fire spirit she will also have a wild, almost dangerous side to her nature and should be capable of infernos of rage and intemperance.

So her head is here and waiting and I ordered her a Luts body a couple of days ago, then as soon as I saw this wonderfully vibrant embroidered fabric, I knew I just had to have it to make her outfit. The picture is very clear in my mind of exactly how I want her to look, but I have yet to find her a suitable wig.

I have even found the perfect name for her . . . Seraphine, which very aptly means burning fire.

Now the waiting game begins all over again!

Floating Head ~ The Beginning of Seraphine

At 4.30 a.m. today, I bought my first floating head from Alison, over at BJD's For Beginners.

She is a Human Flowne from Doll In Mind and has a face-up by Alexandra Somma of 16-Bit Faceups, complete with gorgeous freckles and unusual eyes. The original face-up from DIM didn't do a thing for me and I would never have purchased it, but there was just something about this particular head that really appealed to me.

This Happy size head is approximately 18.3cm so it appears I will be looking for a body around the MiniFee size to do her justice, which means the three girls that I planned to have in this size has just increased to five!!
