Everyone Needs Playtime

In our hectic, modern lives, many of us focus so heavily on work and family commitments that we never seem to have time for pure fun. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, we stopped playing.

When we carve out some leisure time, we’re more likely to zone out in front of the TV or computer than engage in fun, rejuvenating play like we did as children. But play is not just essential for kids; it can be an important source of relaxation and stimulation for adults as well.

There doesn’t need to be any point to the activity beyond having fun and enjoying yourself. By giving yourself permission to play with the joyful abandon of childhood, you can reap oodles of health benefits throughout life.

ANOTHER Ruruko!

It appears I have renewed my love of Ruruko dolls. Of course this may not have happened if  Alejandra hadn't come back to join us. I'm really glad she did though, it's really given me a new lease on life!

This is CCSgirl 24AW, and I placed an order for her (with HobbySearch Japan) earlier this week. I'm hoping, when she gets here, to draft a pattern for her skirt and bustier so my other girls will have outfits similar. I think they will be simple enough to sew. Not sure about the blouse though (I'm not really in to all those black bows on a white blouse), I may just give them all white tee shirts to wear underneath.

Does anyone else, besides Alejandra and me, collect Ruruko dolls?

  1. She's very pretty cograts!!! I do love the black bows on the sleeves, but I agree plain would work better with the ensemble. I have the same shoes she comes with but in a different color and they are my favorite shoes.
I'm glad to be back and help you with your collection LOL.

    1. I know you like the pretty trimmings Alejandra, but I worry whether the black will run if I need to wash the blouse. I shall call you the great enabler now, with your experience to guide and encourage me I shall probably end up with five of these dolls. 😘

  2. I don’t have Ruruko dolls in my collection, but I really enjoy looking at photos and reading posts about them. I love this doll’s hair—such a beautiful color. She is so sweet πŸ’—

    1. I think that's the joy of this particular group of bloggers Inesa, we all collect different dolls, but can appreciate each other's collections. I know I always find it interesting learning about new dolls and understanding what other people see in them, as well as how they dress and photograph them. πŸ’•

  3. I don't have any Ruruko dolls right now, but I think that they're very nice. Their shoes are such nice quality, and I do have some Momoko shoes for my J-dolls. I will likely get some Ruruko dolls someday, when their price fits my budget better. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing what you sew for them.

    1. If you would like one of your own, keep an eye out for the "Fresh Rurukos" they won't take such a big bite out of your budget Barb and purchasing from the big Japanese hobby stores saves a bit too. Email me if you need more detailed info. 😘
